It has been a productive week at MACCS. Our national project, the Vessel Clearance System (VCS) for the Port Louis Harbour, is nearing its completion. Consequently, MACCS has been conducting training sessions with various partners within the trade community to ensure a smooth transition to the system. A well detailed presentation of the VCS System was made by our Team Members whilst ensuring that there was an open floor for the recommendations as well. Several discussions were encouraged around the trade community, recommendations were considered, and further opportunities were discussed.
The VCS system being developed by MACCS and MNS will enable the provision of real- time information of ships entering and getting out of the Mauritian waters. The new methodology of the system will ensure that all parties will have an overview of the process concisely. The core advantage is that all the stakeholders will access the same data which greatly reduces mistakes, thus improving the efficiency of the clearance process. It enables a paperless time saving procedure in order to issue clearance certificates for the ships, where all the changes can be performed online.
Due to the intensity of the sessions and the importance of the project, MACCS conducted training workshops over a week to enable our trade partners to understand and discuss about the system. With our specialised training spaces, we welcomed over 30 members per day where our Team members had the opportunity to present the system. At MACCS, we concentrate on shaping the future solutions for the Trade Community, but we also provide a platform for our employees to learn and develop in new projects!
We greatly appreciate the presence of our collaborators from the trade community during these sessions and look forward to the launching of our national project, the Vessel Clearance System in a near future.
