As part of its commitment to promoting health and well-being in the workplace, Mauritius Cargo Community Services Ltd (MACCS) proudly joined the global Pink October movement with a Breast Cancer Awareness and Screening Session on Friday, 11th October 2024. The event, organized in collaboration with the Breast Cancer Care Association, highlighted the critical importance of early detection in the fight against breast cancer.
During the session, a presentation was delivered by healthcare professional, Dr. Sharmila Rose Mootoosamy, from the Breast Cancer Care Association, who provided valuable insights on the significance of self-examinations, regular screenings, and adopting a healthy lifestyle. Employees were educated on the signs and symptoms of breast cancer, empowering them to take control of their health and remain alert to potential warning signs. In addition, they were encouraged to participate in an on-site breast cancer screening (dépistage), giving them a crucial opportunity to prioritize their health and well-being.
The initiative reflected MACCS’ ongoing dedication to creating a healthier, more supportive workplace and encouraging regular health check-ups. By raising awareness about breast cancer and offering easy access to screening, MACCS hopes to inspire employees and their families to take proactive steps toward early detection, which significantly improves treatment outcomes.
This event served as a reminder that breast cancer can affect anyone, and timely intervention remains key in the fight against the disease. As Pink October continues, MACCS will carry forward the message of hope, health, and support for those affected by breast cancer.
