In honor of International Women in Engineering Day, MACCS is excited to introduce two talented individuals from our Software Delivery Department. One is an ambitious intern embarking on her career journey, while the other has advanced from intern to Associate Software Developer. Their stories reflect the dedication, passion, and potential that women bring to the field of engineering. We hope their experiences will inspire more women and girls to pursue their dreams in this dynamic and rewarding industry.

- What motivated you to pursue a degree in engineering?
My passion for problem-solving and innovation drove me to pursue a degree in engineering. From a young age, I was fascinated by how things work and how technology shapes our world. Engineering offered a perfect blend of creativity and practicality. The desire to contribute to sustainable solutions and improve lives through technology further fueled my ambition. Moreover, the challenge of breaking barriers as a woman in a traditionally male-dominated field inspired me to prove that diversity strengthens our industry.
- What insights have you gained about the engineering industry during your internship at MACCS, so far?
I have witnessed firsthand the crucial role of collaboration and effective communication in achieving project success. I have learned how theoretical knowledge is applied practically to design and implement solutions. Additionally, observing experienced engineers has highlighted the significance of meticulous planning and continuous learning. This experience has also reinforced the industry’s commitment to sustainability and ethical practices, which aligns with my passion for creating a positive impact.
- How do you plan to apply the skills and knowledge you’ve gained from your internship in your future studies or career?
In my future studies, I will leverage my practical experience to enhance my understanding of complex engineering concepts and bring a real-world perspective to classroom discussions. The problem-solving techniques and innovative thinking I have developed will be invaluable in tackling academic projects and research. In my career, I intend to utilize my collaboration and communication skills to work effectively in different teams. The emphasis on ethical practices I observed will guide me in making responsible engineering decisions.

- Can you share any contributions or achievements you are especially proud of since starting your career in engineering?
Since the beginning of my engineering career, my strong academic background has been crucial in my professional growth, enabling me to achieve several milestones that I am especially proud of. At MACCS, I contributed to a significant project as a full-stack developer, applying my programming skills across languages such as Angular, ASP.NET, ASP.NET Core, C#, Java, and SQL. These experiences have not only sharpened my technical skills but also broadened my understanding of various programming environments. Currently, I am expanding my skill set by exploring the capabilities of Apache Superset, a Business Intelligence tool. Beyond my technical contributions, I’m committed to supporting my team’s success. I actively participate in code reviews, debugging sessions, and brainstorming meetings, where I share ideas and solutions. I am eager to continue to learn more, grow, and achieve further success in my career.
- Are there any trends or emerging technologies in engineering that you find particularly exciting?
It’s fascinating to witness how rapidly Artificial Intelligence (AI) and machine learning (ML) are revolutionizing various industries, including engineering. The potential of these emerging technologies is vast and thrilling. AI and ML automate repetitive tasks, enabling engineers to focus on higher-level strategic planning and problem-solving. This shift enhances overall productivity and improves work quality. Additionally, integrating machine learning algorithms allows us to uncover insights and patterns from data that would be challenging to discern manually. I believe engineers should invest in these technologies to unlock new opportunities, create more efficient systems, and push the boundaries of what’s possible. I am eager to continue exploring the immense possibilities of AI and machine learning, and I am certain these innovations will play a critical role in shaping the future of engineering.
- What advice would you give to other young women considering a career in engineering?
As a young woman in engineering, I strongly encourage other women to choose this dynamic profession. An important piece of advice: do not allow self-doubt or societal stereotypes to limit you. Despite its historical male dominance, the engineering sector is changing as more women embrace its difficulties and potential. Believe in yourself, your problem-solving ability, and the unique insights you provide; these are invaluable assets. Your ideas fuel innovation and growth. Don’t let gender imbalance discourage you; let it motivate you to inspire the next generation of engineers. Together, we can build a diverse and inclusive engineering profession that benefits everyone.
The journeys of these two remarkable ladies serve as a powerful reminder of the immense potential within each individual. Let their stories inspire women and girls everywhere to chase their dreams in engineering, breaking barriers and building a brighter future for all.
